I can't believe this being considered a "filler cut". I grew up in the late 60's and early 70's listening to my mom's copy of this song. I was shocked to hear that the melody had lyrics when I found it on a 20 cent Righteous Brothers album.

I am just growing up and I used to be one who listened to rap and punk music and well my grandmother got out the floyd cramer cds and I love playing on our piano and I was like, He was a very great piano player and I enjoy listening to his music. I guess you're right - the term was maybe made up and applied to him because his style was so distinctive, and those grace notes happened to be a main feature of his unmistakeable style. There are many such duplicating terms in the vernacular of the non academic world of music aren't there?

Well,I'm in my 60's and his music takes me back to my teens and I remember his music and slow dancing with my girl and we all thought we would live forever.How wrong we were.Sometimes I think I'm the only one left from our group.Lost 2 buds in Nam,other friends to illness and some like smoke just sort of drifted away never to be seen again except when I hear music from this era and relive memories from the past.

man this song takes me back. to that small ranch we had back in the 70s. in the evenings after working the cows all day and garden and every damn thing else my father could find for me to do. lol no im teasing there.i enjoyed it. anyway in the evenings we would sit around that radio and have sing alongs with these old songs. this is the most beautifull song i have ever heard. god bless.

About a year after this song came out, I heard Ray sing it at Knott's Berry Farm in Southern California. The audience was in total silence and yes there were many tears of joy. This is many people's favorite song, but it is truly Ray's song. Thanks for posting it.

In 1976 my family traveled out West and my dad played this non-stop on his 8 track tape player. I was 12 and annoyed to no end but when I hear this song, it reminds me of "the Good Times" I had as a kid on my yearly vacations with the family.

Thank you for posting this. Ray Price is one of the very best. What a powerful voice. Other performers are virtually swallowing the microphone because they have such weak voices, but Ray stands 2-3 feet from the mike and fills the room with his wonderful voice.

This is not Don Gibson's original 1958 hit single version, which was much better, IMHO. This is the man who wrote this great song, and as much as I love Don Gibson's talents, I think Ray Charles's 1962 monster hit version of this song is one of the greatest records ever made.

This man was great! This song, that he wrote, was written in a trailer park in Knoxville, TN. It is the most recorded country music song of all time. Don Gibson lived through alot of heartache and wrote about it. He is and was amazing!

I actually bought this album (on vinyl) when it was first realeased around 1962 (in the U.K.), though a bit disappointed (at the time)that some tracks were re-recordings, they definitely stand up as excellent recordings in their own right. Please post some more tracks as my vinyl copy is a bit scratched!
