Thank you for mentioning the Mississippi & Alabama Coast, as they were the ones that took the brunt force from Katrina. New Orleans actually escaped the wrath of Katrina.....the break in the levees of NO, due to the negligence of the state of Louisiana (who knew one day a hurricane would make havoc on their levees; but nothing was ever done to protect them in NO.) The sad thing is that emergency shelters do not take dogs. This is why it is so important to make sure that your dog is a good citizen. You never know what situation may separate you from your animal and require them to be re homed. Even if you are away from your pet, the most important thing is that they have a good home even if that means not being with you, but at least safe and loved.

@warriorsrock123 I have done dog rescue for the last decade. The last dog I had was kicked so hard in the face at one point, that his jaw had been broken and healed improperly. He bit me when I was combing him out, and punctured my skin in two places, and I ended up with pasteurella which gave me septic arthritis in my left wrist. After he bit me, he panicked and defecated thinking I was going to beat him. I got that dog sane again, over a course of a year. So many people full of shit...

I've spent a summer in Spain and it's truly a wonderful place if you're interested in observing art and architecture. Barcelona and Madrid are impeccable in design and there are enough art galleries to last you years of appreciation. Spain is also very big on discos and going partying late into the night. It's a great place for teens and young adults to go to experience European dancing and drinking in a responsible fashion.
